The dynamism and the influence of its laboratories, coupled with a professionalizing policy, make the university contribute strongly to the socioeconomic development of the region, through the employability of its students. The university takes part in 6 competitiveness clusters that form a network of companies, research units and educational structures, offering collaborative and competitive solutions for joint projects. In this project, UM will be involved via the participation of Laboratoire d’Informatique, de Robotique et de Microélectronique de Montpellier (LIRMM). LIRMM is a Joint Research Unit of the Université de Montpellier and CNRS.

UM-LIRMM research activities cover a broad range of topics, ranging from computer science to systems, from technology to people and applications, including: design and verification of integrated, mobile and communicating systems, agent based modeling of complex systems, research on algorithms, bioinformatics, human-machine interaction, surgical robotics, mobile robotics and humanoid robotics and functional rehabilitation. The VERSATILE project will be undertaken within the Interactive Digital Human group working mainly on Humanoid-Human Interaction.
